Emulating a Professional Photographer

This was a fun assignment, but also very challenging. In order to properly emulate a photographer, you need to study their work and understand why they take images like they do. It is not easy in the slightest and I definitely could have done more to understand Philip Hyde. With that being said, I feel like this image was my best attempt at emulating his work. Both images are of a forest river tumbling over rocks with the calm pool sitting just above. The primary focal point of both images rests between two stones and follows the path of the water. I think what I could improve upon if I were to emulate Hyde's work again is focusing more on the angles and colors of the shot. I feel like I focused too much on trying to find similar subjects for the shot and could have done more to emulate the process.
My Comment on Devyn Klein's work:
Hi Devyn. I think you did a great job emulating Tom Hunter's work. I completely agree with your comment about your image replicating the idea of solitude in nature. I think it does this very well even though the subjects, colors, and tones of the images are very different. I think your image is a great example that two images/pieces don't have to look identical to have inspired one another. You did a great job finding a central idea theme in Hunter's image, and putting your own twist on it. Great work!

Hi Owen! I believe your photograph emulates Philip's very well. You were able to capture the same calmness and serenity of the water on the rocks that Hyde did. I do agree the playing with then angles could allow for a better overall perspective, but otherwise I think you were able to capture the colors and I can see the similarities between your photo and Hyde's. Good job!
