Dozen Photo Challenge

I found this challenge to be, well... challenging. I always have a difficult time finding things to photograph when I'm actively seeking them out. Because of this I feel the quality of the photos I used for this project aren't the highest.

I need more practice looking for and learning how to use the different techniques the challenge requires. If I ever do it again I'm going to dedicate more time to learning about the methods so it doesn't feel like I need to seek out the right conditions, I'll be able to just notice them when I'm out and about. At very few points throughout this project did I feel as though I was just capturing the moment. It felt very forced which goes against what I think photography should be. It should be a means of capturing beauty in the moment and the more you have to seek out the moment to capture, the less real it makes it.

With that being said, There were a few photos I took that I felt were a simple capture of the moment. This picture stands out as one of my best. The low sun beautifully illuminates the street and highlights backside of the clouds. It creates a sense of calm and makes me feel at peace. Even though the day was cold and raw, the warmth of the sun made that melt away.

Hi Gimena! I want to start by just saying that this is a beautiful picture. The translucent nature of the vinyl allows for so many incredible details to be brought out by the back lighting. Similar to what Brooke mentioned, I feel like back lighting is typically used to accentuate shadows and create a powerful silhouette. It's usually the darkness that stands out the most, but your use of it completely flips that idea with a bright and warm image. Well done!
